There is an extra panel at the front. It crosses over the top of the leg like a short apron, seamed at the waist and left loose below, so the trouser reads as two garments layered rather than one cut wide.

Underneath, the leg is enormous - deeply pleated from a high waistband and falling straight to the floor without tapering anywhere. The panel breaks up all that width, giving the eye a vertical edge to follow, and the waistband is cut wide and flat so nothing gathers at the top.

They are the most dramatic thing here and the easiest to wear, because all of the volume is below the waist where it does no harm.
